Great Part-Time Jobs During College

Some people have the luxury of attending college full-time without having to work. Most people can’t afford this kind of lifestyle. For the student who wants to complete school quickly, the only option is often to take a full course load while working part-time. It can be a draining experience but it goes a lot more smoothly if you’re smart about the part-time job that you choose.
Here are some of the best part-time jobs to get when you’re in school:
- On-campus jobs. They don’t pay well but they’re the most flexible with your school schedule and will even give you time off during midterms and finals.
- Jobs that let you study. Being the cashier at a parking lot that isn’t busy or working as a security monitor overnight can give you downtime to study while you’re getting paid.
- Online jobs. If you can snag a job that will let you work from your computer, such as a part-time blogging gig, then you have some flexibility in your schedule and can even work from campus.
- High-paying student jobs. Jobs like bartending or modeling for art classes let students earn enough money with just a few hours of work per week so that they don’t tax their time too much.
- Intermittent jobs. Some students find that it’s best to put together a hodge-podge of short-term jobs to earn money intermittently throughout the semester. A combination of babysitting, running errands, walking dogs and house-sitting can bring in enough money to get through college. Working for a temp agency allows the same opportunity.
If you have to work part-time during college, make sure that you choose a job that will bring in the money that you need without compromising your focus on school.

Im my experience wating tables is a very popular part time job for college students, particularly for working weekends: You can earn good tips, work at weekends during the day or evenings and you get can often get other perks that are good for students, i.e. a free dinner!
