I’ve always been into the newest gear and technology, whatever they’re for. I love electronic stuff, computers, videos, etc. I’m also into sports. Unlike other geeks, I also play sports and stay active. Baseball is my favorite. Although I don’t get that much exercise playing on an adult recreational team, I keep in shape doing various drills at a baseball and softball training school. They have batting cages, regular clinics, and my favorite thing, digital swing/motion analysis! They replay it on a huge plasma TV screen, show your motion from various angles, and there’s slow motion and freeze frame. Very, very cool.

Of course, I became a member of this place. It’s my gym. I think fitness should be fun. Treadmills and exercise bikes are not my idea of fun. The baseball schools offer regular Florida baseball camps for kids which are very popular. They have lots of training programs for players of all ages, and they sell neat baseball and softball equipment. And that’s not all. They will train you to operate your own baseball school franchise. I’m not quite ready to get into that, but it’s definitely something to think about. I like the idea of getting a baseball franchise and using the digital swing analysis for free.

I Want to Develop My Skills

I have always been very interested in pursuing a career in the culinary arts and I remember how excited I was when I learned there were culinary arts degrees available that I would be able to achieve if I were to attend a good Cooking school to pursue my culinary goals. Some of my friends have already wondered why I would feel the need to pursue an actual certification in the culinary world since they say I already cook really, really well as it is. But I think that having natural skills are just an invitation to further pursue those talents, not just rest on one’s laurels and take them for what they are.

I believe that if I got some good education and really began to further develop my natural inclination and enjoyment of the field, I could learn so much more and take it so much further. Then who knows what I could do with it, I mean I could start a restaurant somewhere exotic like in the Caribbean or maybe in Europe somewhere, on the Mediterranean. I think that would be a really great and exciting life to live with my family. So I am going to seek the training I need to get there.

Being An IT Expert In A Short Time

The field of information technology and computers is an interesting field. While many experts who had succeeded in the IT field had been formally educated, there are also those who succeeded with experience and passion alone. It is not like in other fields like medicine and psychology wherein professionals have to go through rigorous university training to practice in the field.

In IT, even high school kids become instant celebrities when the can come up with great codes.

For those who are passionate about computers who need “papers” but do not want to spend money and time in university, the may want to consider getting an online associate degrees. An associate degree can be had in around two years compared to at least four years for a bachelor degree.

Online computer it degrees are abundant and many schools offer good programs. This degree would suit perfectly those geeky types who want to be ensconced in their rooms with the computers round the clock.

For those “mature” geeks, they may consider MBA online degree programs so that when they outgrow the need to code, they can move to IT managerial positions. Combining business and information techology totally rocks, not to mention generates huge sums of money.

Met the Cutest Girl

Last night I was out with some friends doing the usual thing. We were at a place that had pool tables, so we had set up camp back there. At the table next to us were a couple of chicks who were shooting, and pretty well. I’m kind of shy, so even though I wanted to say something to the cute one who I thought kept checking me out I didn’t. Then she approached me and she struck up a conversation!

Wow, a hot girl who might be interested in me! So I reluctantly ask her where she works totally expecting to hear that she doesn’t work or something like that. Nope, she has a great job! She tells me she works at one of those golf colleges where they teach people how to teach golf and set them up for a golf career. The funny part is that she doesn’t play golf! That of course is fine with me because I’m no Tiger Woods.

As we continue to talk, she told me she owns her own home, has a car, and does not have a boyfriend (or worse, a husband). Oh, and she has a great set of teeth too! Is it too good to be true? Who knows, but well find out because I have a date with her this Saturday night!

Searching for an Occupational Therapy Program

I just started my junior year in college and started looking into a career as an occupational therapist after attending a recent job fair in town. There’s a school in my state that has an Occupational Therapy program which I’ve been meaning to look into; coincidentally, they had a booth at the fair and I was able to get some brochures and talk to one of their admissions officers for over an hour about their program. He recommended a few more courses I should take as an undergraduate to satisfy their prerequisites, and mentioned that job opportunities for occupational therapists were growing, especially in larger cities. He was very helpful and directed me to their website for additional information about the school and and said to also check out their Health Sciences online programs. He then gave me his email address at the school in case I want to contact him directly.

I was very happy with that discussion and am making plans to visit the school soon. I’ve also started looking at the programs offered by other schools, just to compare different schools before making a final decision. But the first school is still my top choice. They even have an online Doctor of Health Sciences Program, but of course that’s something else altogether.

Which Online Degrees are Most Desired?

Recently, I’ve been reading more and more about the popularity of online degree programs. It seems an ever increasing number of people are using online degree finding resources to find an online school that’s right for them.

This got me thinking-I wonder which online degrees are pursued most often? I did a little research, and here are a few of the degrees most online students achieve.

Bachelors Degree Human Resources- Human resources experts are in high demand. Long gone are the days where an HR rep simply recruited new employees. Today, human resources mangers are responsible for bridging the communication gap between employees and management. They help solve important problems to create a happier, more productive workplace.

Online Computer IT Degrees- The need for IT professionals is expected to reach an all-time high by 2010. The market simply doesn’t have enough qualified IT specialists. For this reason, a growing number of students are seeking degrees in this field. They know that with this upcoming worker shortage, they’ll be able to demand higher salaries.

Online Nursing Degree- Perhaps no other field can guarantee job placement like nursing. It doesn’t matter how much technology progresses, hospitals always need qualified nurses on staff. That’s why online nursing programs are so popular. Students are able to find high paying jobs quickly upon graduation.

Gender in Design Programs

We would like to believe that all fields of work are open to both men and women. That is true to an extent in the United States. However, the societal pressures that have always driven more men into some fields and more women into others are still there just as they have been in the past. There are more males in management positions at tech companies than there are females in such positions and there are more women working as teachers and nurses than there are men in these jobs. It just hasn’t changed that much yet.

The gender division can be seen in the various design fields that exist as well. Take a look at the students attending Harrington interior design school or other interior design degree programs and you will find that there are more women who are interested in doing design for the home than there are men in this field. Likewise, take a look at video game design and you’ll see that men dominate the field.

The good news is that these trends are now simply trends and that they don’t actually limit people of either gender from pursuing the career that interests them most. Men who want to do interior design will find themselves welcomed and challenged at schools that teach this degree. And female video game designers crop up now and then with only respect given their way.
