Well, that date was awful.  You ever meet a girl who’s just fantastic in practically every respect-looks, personality, money-but when she talks, you just want to blow your brains out?  I just dropped off that girl a couple hours ago.

Things started out great.  She answered the door looking amazing.  Her apartment looked pretty nice too, from what I could see.

Then we went out for Thai food and it all went downhill from there.  She started talking about this culinary institute she goes to and how much she loves cooking, which is cool, I like cooking.  But then the issue of politics came up somehow.  I said something about hoping for things to get better after January 20^th when Obama takes office, and she just lost it.

“Oh, you’re not a liberal, are you?” she asked.

“Well, I’ve never really used the word ‘liberal’ to describe myself, but yeah, it probably fits better than anything else.”

“Oh, seriously?  You really think the country’s going to get better?!”

And I should have just ended it there. It’s not that she’s right or wrong, it’s just not a good date topic and a no-win situation. I should have just asked her where the best cooking schools are and accepted the fact that I live in the most conservative city in the most conservative state.  But. . . I didn’t.  Ugh.  Politics and religion.  Never ever talk about politics and religion to anyone.
